Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece then moved to England at age 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA of Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to hold the position of president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the presidency. Being a conservative syndicated blog, after graduating she became an influential voice for the Huffington Post. Her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003, when she ran as an independent in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Alongside this, she led an Detroit project that promoted the use of fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as The most influential female media personality, taking the 12th position in the list. The same year the Guardian named her to the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her president of the media group that also includes the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. From her early years, she showed leadership abilities which are still widely admired. She moved to England at 16, to pursue her education and was enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the third and first female to serve as the president.
